Ushak is derived from the rug designs made by the Turkish tribe of the same name. They were used a lot in the mosques and in churches. The faded colours have been used for this design, as in the later 20th century designs.
It's like an unexpected trove amongst the confused display at the Antiquarian's. A new rug, showing familiar, but almost forgotten patterns.
The Antique Heriz Collection displays a central medallion, rosette shaped with a stair patterned parameter. Palmettes in which the shape of a turtle is suggested. Boughs, leaved twigs, stalks and flowers, a Heriz, distressed with age and its origin Azeri Persia.
Over a century of skill and craftsmanship is woven into every rug produced. Woven on jacquard Wilton looms with cotton chenille yarns, each beautiful rug has multiple layers of texture, distressed areas and intricate stitching detail to give a true ‘vintage’ look.
Woven in a fashionable flat weave construction, all rugs are hand finished with reinforced corners and an anti-slip layer for a secure fit. There is a superb choice of sizes available too, as each rug is woven in nine standard sizes ranging from 140 cm x 200 cm up to 230 cm x 330 cm, ensuring there is a size just right for every room in the home.
